Students in grade five are expected to abide by three simple rules:

Students who are READY:
- always have a pen and pencil when coming to class
- have their homework out and ready to review when class starts
- come in to class quietly, sit down and begin their first assignment
- have their books, agenda and notebooks when they come to class
- do not have to return to their homeroom to get forgotten materials
- are listening with mouths closed and eyes on the teacher when she asks for their attention
Students who are RESPONSIBLE:
- pack their backpack the night before school to make sure they have everything they need
- keep their desks and cubbies neat and free of clutter
- organize their materials and homework so that it is never late
- keep the floor of their classroom clear of trash
- put things back when they are finished using them
- write their assignments in their notebook every day
- do their homework without their parents having to ask
- put their chair up at the end of the day
- do their personal best work each and every day
- do their assigned classroom job every day without being asked
Students who are RESPECTFUL:
- keep hands, feet and objects off of fellow students and teachers
- do not touch other people’s property without permission
- raise their hand if they wish to speak or leave their seat
- never use foul language or put-downs
- keep their voices down when working with a partner or group
- are silent in the hallways
- keep boys and girls restrooms neat and clean
